It really is all about the numbers. Each song on this album relies on the numbers in a row of a sudoku puzzle to create the melody, which David then used to create unique tracks influenced by different genres of music. He wanted each track to have its own album art that was informed by the genre it mimicked.
The amount of space dedicated to the actual art is limited to the border around the puzzle, so my challenge was to use color, texture, and type to evoke the feeling and energy of each track, while maintaining enough contrast from one another that when spliced together for the main album art, they stand apart.
